Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Jora Jobs collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. Who we are
Jora Jobs (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs this website, a job board that connects job seekers (“candidates”) with employers. We are based in 60 Rogers St, West End QLD 4101, Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and, for people in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ) and its Information Privacy Principles.
2. Information we collect
When you sign in
We use Google sign-in. Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account identifier with us. We do not receive or store your Google password.
If you are a job seeker
- Profile details you enter: name, headline, photo, date of birth, gender, marital status, nationality, phone numbers, addresses, city and country.
- Career information: career summary, cover letter, job level, preferred job type and locations, current and expected salary, notice period.
- Education, training, certifications, work experience, skills, languages, social and portfolio links and referees.
- Your CV / resume file.
- Applications: the jobs you apply to, your cover letter, expected salary, answers to screening questions and a copy of the CV you applied with.
Please only add referees' details with their permission.
If you are an employer
- Company details: name, logo, cover image, description, industry, size, website, address, phone and social links.
- Contact person details and the business registration (trade licence) number and document you upload for verification.
- Job ads and how you handle applications (for example status changes).
- If you use our API: your API tokens (stored securely) and the data you send.
Some company profiles and job ads are created from publicly available job advertisements. These may include business contact details published in the original ad.
When you contact us
Your name, email address and the content of your message.
Automatically
Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit, recorded in server logs and used for security and to keep the site working. We count job ad views without identifying you.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- To show your profile and application to the employers you apply to.
- To publish job ads and company profiles, and to verify employers.
- To send service emails, such as confirmation of an application, changes to its status, approval of a job ad or replies to your messages. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- To review job ads and keep the site safe: preventing fraud, scams, spam and misuse.
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To improve the site and to comply with the law.
4. Who can see your information
- Employers you apply to see your full profile, including contact details, date of birth, addresses, referees and CV, together with your application. They may download a summary of applicants (for example as Excel or PDF). Employers must use this information only to consider you for the job.
- The public. Your profile is private by default. If you make it public, anyone with the link can see it, but never your phone number, email, date of birth, addresses, referees or CV. Search engines list a public profile only if you also allow that in your profile settings.
- Job ads and company profiles of verified employers are public.
- Our administrators can access account information to run, moderate and support the service.
If you apply for a job from a company that has not yet set up its account on Jora Jobs, your application is stored securely and becomes available to that employer when its account is connected.
5. Service providers and overseas disclosure
We share information only as needed with providers who help us run the service, for example:
- website hosting and data storage providers;
- email delivery providers, to send service emails;
- Google, for sign-in and website analytics (Google Analytics).
These providers may store or process information outside Australia and New Zealand, including in the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it. Some job ads include embedded videos from YouTube or Vimeo; those services may set their own cookies when you play a video.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a sale or restructure of our business. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies
We use cookies needed for the site to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a security token that protects forms. If you block these, you will not be able to sign in.
We also use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited and how people find job ads. Google sets analytics cookies and receives information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you view; see how Google uses this information. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on without affecting how the website works.
7. How long we keep information
- Account and profile information: while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise it, except where we must keep it for legal reasons.
- Applications: as long as the job and the employer's account exist, so the employer has a record of who applied.
- Messages sent to us: as long as needed to deal with them.
- Server logs: for a limited period for security purposes.
8. Security
We protect information with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, private storage for CVs and verification documents, and sign-in through Google. No system is completely secure, so please let us know straight away if you think your account has been misused.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. You can view and update most of your information in your profile at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Visibility. Choose whether your profile is public and whether search engines may list it.
- Applications. Withdraw an application while it has not been reviewed.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your account and personal information.
To make a request, use our contact form or email us from the address linked to your account. We may need to confirm your identity and will respond within 30 days.
10. Children
Jora Jobs is intended for people aged 14 and over who are looking for work. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian.
11. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If the changes are significant, we will let registered users know.
